Christina Heyniger

Biography:
Christina works with governments, entrepreneurs and community tourism interests to develop and market adventure/eco/nature tourism products and services. She has supported adventure travel and blended adventure-volunteer tourism initiatives in Cambodia, China, Ecuador, India, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, and the United States. She writes and speaks regularly on adventure tourism destination and development issues. She is the President of Xola Consulting, Inc. and Off the Radar (www.travelofftheradar.com), a newsletter and website promoting sustainable, responsible adventure travel operators to travelers, industry, and media worldwide. Through its research and consulting engagements Xola continues to play a significant role in the adventure industry’s push for sustainable adventure tourism development standards and was one of the founding partners in the Adventure Tourism Development Index (www.adventureindex.travel), a tool for measuring adventure market competitiveness worldwide. Christina has more than 10 years experience in business management consulting, including market and policy research, program management, business process development and improvement, and performance measurement and improvement. She holds a BA in Communication from Cornell University, an MA in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University, and an MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from American University. Originally from Alaska, Christina now lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
