Biography: Since September 1998 she has been the Head of Health & Safety and Operational Support for the Federation of Tour Operators (FTO) and International Federation of Tour Operators (IFTO). It is widely accepted that FTO and its members are the tourism market leaders in developing and implementing health & safety procedures. Through continued research and development she has played been an integral part of developing a safety methodology and training tools that are specifically tailored to the tourism business, which can assist in benchmarking an organisation’s achievements regarding health & safety. In July 2008 the Federation of Tour Operators merged with ABTA the Travel Association and as she now is the Destination Services Manager, with responsibility for Destination Operations, Health Safety, Crisis Management and incident management on behalf of FTO and the wider ABTA membership In addition, she is a regular speaker on behalf of the Tourist Industry at UK and International conferences, to promote the positive work of the Tourism sector and is the industry stakeholder representative for EU and international committees for destination and safety related matters. Key objectives: Through partnership, education, information and support exercise a powerful influence for positive health & safety change and regulatory improvement overseas. Examples of training programmes delivered: Health & Safety Training and Road Shows: training in food safety, pool safety, fire safety, incident management, water quality, legionnaires disease and general safety to hoteliers and their staff in Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Antigua,, St Lucia, Sri Lanka, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Canary Islands, Malta and many other destinations around the world. |
