Sue Hurdle

Sue Hurdle is Chief Executive of The Travel Foundation, the British, government & industry-backed sustainable tourism charity.  Sue's career began in mainstream travel with Thomas Cook in the UK, who back in 1993, were far-sighted enough to sponsor her to study for a Masters degree in "Tourism & Social Responsibility".  Inspired by what she learned, Sue then developed an initiative to persuade leading travel companies that Corporate Social Responsibility really is good for business.  In 2003 this initiative was launched as The Travel Foundation - the world's first industry partnership to help companies put sustainable tourism into practice.  Today, The Travel Foundation works in 16 countries and has over 300 members, representing industry (spanning multi-national companies, small independent tour operators, travel agents, airlines), government, NGOs and research bodies focused on sustainable tourism.
