Seminar Details
This session will be discussing the place of escorted Sports Tourism in the travel industry. Over the past 10 years there has been a massive growth in specialised escorted trips to high-profile events such as the Ashes, British Lions rugby tours, various football World Cups. However, the disappointing numbers at last year’s football World Cup suggests it is not a business without problems. Two former sports stars will talk about their own experiences entertaining large groups of sports fans and the Telegraph’s two editors will discuss how well London is prepared for hosting the world’s greatest sporting spectacle. Finally, Danny Talbot will be discussing the opportunities but also the practical realities of taking large groups of tourists to overseas sport events.
